Introducing Vic

Vic
Victoria hails from sunny Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and initially came to England on a 2 year working stay with her friend Cath. The plan was to get jobs and travel extensively through Europe. The plan wasn't to get jobs, meet some Pom, travel extensively through Europe and then get stuck in grey west London for a further 3 years. So much for plans...

Vic's cycling career has been long and varied. Growing up on a farm in the Central Queensland town of Biloela, she got her first bike at the age of 6. Two older brothers and the space to create your own jumps, led Vic to become a tomboy of the highest order. She still bears the scars on her knees and elbows, putting pay to that highly-paid modelling career that was her ambition.

As previously mentioned, London is not noted for its wide, traffic-free boulevards and it was this, coupled with being the couple's permanently designated driver which saw four wheels abandoned for two. Vic went for a "Carrera Vulcan" as the frame fitted, the name had classical overtones and it was silver - thought at that time to be the fastest colour for a bike.

There was a nagging worry that a pair of silver bikes would have "his 'n' hers" connotations but we managed to put such worries out of our minds.
