Profiteroles

Dessert is the best course and profiteroles are the best dessert. If I ever have to do a 'Cool Hand Luke' style challenge I'd have a go at 50 profiteroles. Mmmmmm.....gluttony.

Fishcake and Chips

Fish cake (or pattie as it's known back home) was the takeaway food of choice when I was a lad. My folks would go to the chippy and I was in charge of tea, condiments and bread & butter. We were a well-oiled machine and it was chip oil that kept the cogs lubricated.

Vic's Swiss Chicken

Vic's Swiss chicken lends heavily from the Australian Women's Weekly cookbook and was the reason our last flat was the only one in the street with a Michelin star. Always a delight.

Potato

Mashed or chipped, roasted or boiled, the humble potato is the vegetable no meal can do without. In fact my dream is to develop a dessert spud but I fear a combination of high R&D costs and public skepticism could see this project stay on the drawing board.

Meaty Pizza

I love pizza and I love being hungry and eating pizza - meaty pizza with lots of meat on it. I appreciate this has only a passing resemblence to the traditional Italian pizza but I make no apologies for that. I am, after all, a simple soul as anyone who's had the pleasure of marking my exams can confirm.

Young Man!
Onion Bhajis and Chicken Chat

Straight from the Jaflong in South Harrow. I've had many curries in my time in London, but have yet to see them ever bettered by the someone other than the Jaflong.

Not just me, they were recently voted 2nd best curryhouse in London. I don't know who was first, but I can't imagine that it was better than a certain curry house in South Harrow.

Two bowls of rice is not enough
Tempura Prawns and Golden Chicken Curry

My favourite Thai meal. Can't wait to try the authentic curries when we reach Thailand.

Best is by Pino's Mum
Any tasty pasta with sauce

Italy is a definite fave of our's and there'll be plenty of carbo-loading while we're there.

with the white choc cheesecake
Ebi Katsu and Chicken Kare Lomen

We've only discovered Wagamama's in the last year and this is my favourite off the menu.

I did feel sorry for the Spanish man who sat next to us one time who did a 'I'll have what she's having'. The poor man spent the next twenty minutes sweating profusely after not being able to handle the (in my opinion) not that spicy Chicken Kare Lomen. Poor guy.

One for Higgy
Sausages with Onion Gravy and Mash

A British favourite, especially during a cold wet winter. Also makes the list because it's one of my specialities.
