Banz's Top 5 Albums
Technical
Technique
[New Order]

A short but perfect album.

Any of the songs would have made a great single and, in fact a few were released and I think it was in the days when people allowed decent music in the chart. (Cheers Grandad.)

Love Less is probably my favourite New Order song but is too sad to make the Top 5 singles.

Lasagne
Definitely Maybe
[Oasis]

The Gallagher boys might misbehave now and then but they do it so that we don't have to. It's lucky they went into music as they wouldn't last 5 minutes in the IT business with their hedonistic attitude.

Rock and roll as it should be, by the band everyone looked to in the 90s.

You adore me
Stone Roses
[Stone Roses]

A debut which no band could hope to live up to (but Second Coming had its moments) and one which anyone who likes music should have in their collection.

Every song is a masterpiece and it sounds as fresh today as it did in (gulp) 1990.

Paul's sister is an alien
Rated R
[Queens of the Stone Age]

A slightly left-field selection which has squeezed out other more well-known records.

It's hard to believe that it wasn't anything from this album but "No-one Knows" which brought QotSA recognition. Rated R is not perfect but when it gets it right (which is often) then it makes the world a better place.

William is idle.
Whiplash Smile
[Billy Idol]

I couldn't do a Top 5 without featuring Billy Idol and I reckon this is his best album. Critics and fans alike were stunned by the lack of 'Hot In The City' remixes and live versions of 'White Wedding'. This shouldn't put you off as there's plenty for everyone on Whiplash Smile.

Classic stuff from a giant of the music industry.

Vic's Top 5 Albums
I'd love to turn you onnnnn...
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
[The Beatles]

It seems like a new trend to knock The Beatles, but give me a good stereo with Sgt Pepper's turned up loud and I'm a happy girl.

Have I got a little story for you
Ten
[Pearl Jam]

The first album by one of my favourite bands.

I've seen them live twice and both times just the opening chords of 'Alive' are enough to send shivers down my spine.

Did the captain of the Titanic cry?
Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too
[New Radicals]

You probably know the New Radicals from their huge single 'You Get What You Give', but their one and only album is full of songs equal to that.

Just don't hold his work with Ronan Keating against him...

I like it, I don't want to stop
Nevermind
[Nirvana]

Its scary to think that almost ten years have passed since Kurt Cobain left this world.

Nevermind burnt itself into my conscience in the Summer of 1991. I had just finished school, had my first car and during that time it never left my stereo.

I'm not like all the other boys...
The Man Who
[Travis]

Beautiful, heartbreaking, aching.

This album was Travis' breakthrough and everything on it just works perfectly. It's especially Fran Healey's voice and heartfelt lyrics that go straight to your heart and soul.
