Technique [New Order] |
A short but perfect album.
Any of the songs would have made a great single and, in fact a few were released and I think it was in the days when people allowed decent music in the chart. (Cheers Grandad.)
Love Less is probably my favourite New Order song but is too sad to make the Top 5 singles. |
Definitely Maybe [Oasis] |
The Gallagher boys might misbehave now and then but they do it so that we don't have to. It's lucky they went into music as they wouldn't last 5 minutes in the IT business with their hedonistic attitude.
Rock and roll as it should be, by the band everyone looked to in the 90s. |
Stone Roses [Stone Roses] |
A debut which no band could hope to live up to (but Second Coming had its moments) and one which anyone who likes music should have in their collection.
Every song is a masterpiece and it sounds as fresh today as it did in (gulp) 1990. |
Rated R [Queens of the Stone Age] |
A slightly left-field selection which has squeezed out other more well-known records.
It's hard to believe that it wasn't anything from this album but "No-one Knows" which brought QotSA recognition. Rated R is not perfect but when it gets it right (which is often) then it makes the world a better place. |
Whiplash Smile [Billy Idol] |
I couldn't do a Top 5 without featuring Billy Idol and I reckon this is his best album. Critics and fans alike were stunned by the lack of 'Hot In The City' remixes and live versions of 'White Wedding'. This shouldn't put you off as there's plenty for everyone on Whiplash Smile.
Classic stuff from a giant of the music industry. |
