Rough Guide
Generally my preferred guidebook when travelling. A lot of inexperienced travellers use Lonely Planet as they're the "big" travel brand when it comes to guidebooks. I don't really use guidebooks when it comes to finding accommodation or food as I find opinions in these areas can be so divided and I'd rather follow my nose, (the other option is following a group of 18 year olds away from home for the first time who only go places that are in the Lonely Planet). Not as politically correct as Lonely Planet and a much better historical perspective.
Lonely Planet
The original independent traveller's guide which has shown that familiarity breeds contempt amongst some travellers (with us to some extent in that category). Still great for basics and has to be applauded for their cycle specific guides. The Thorn Tree is a fantastic forum for posting and receiving info and has a specialised bicycle section.
1000 Travel Tips
Mainly focussing on Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, this site is a definite read before travelling.
Jane and Richard
My mate Jane and her husband Richard have a great site detailing their various adventures throughout the UK and abroad.
Travel Library
Great resource of information - check out what other travellers have to say about the places you're going.
Oz Trip 04
Our mates, Cath and Spence are also going to travel in the next year or so as they head back to Brisvegas, Australia.
In Your Pocket
Great guide which with a particular speciality in Eastern Europe.
